Listener Features
What your audience can do on your website.
You can turn most of these off in the Site Builder, under Features. Comments, the newsletter, listener accounts and live chat start off, and everything else starts on.
The player
A listener's stream can drop on a bad connection. The player tries again by itself, waiting longer each time, for about a minute and a half. If the stream stalls for 15 seconds, it treats that as a drop too.
The Listen page also has the track's album and, when you have added them in AzuraCast, its lyrics. If a browser offers to install your site as an app, an Install app button appears there.
Song requests
Listeners search your AzuraCast music library at /requests and choose a track. It needs Song Requests turned on for your station in AzuraCast. If requests are off there, your page says they are closed.
AzuraCast decides which requests it accepts. Its Request Last Played Threshold, in your station profile, refuses any song whose song or artist played recently, and listeners see that reason. On a small library, that can refuse nearly everything, so lower the threshold or add more music.
Requests go to AzuraCast from your Auvyra server, so AzuraCast sees one address for all your listeners. Auvyra sets its own limit too: three requests every 15 minutes per visitor, or 60 across all visitors unless TRUST_PROXY is set. Moderate requests under Song Requests in the dashboard.
Likes and charts
Listeners can like the track on air, from the main controls or the player bar. Each browser gets one like per song, using a random cookie. Someone who clears their cookies can like a song again, so treat this chart as a bit of fun and not as an exact count.
/charts has three views: most liked, most played and top artists. The last two come from Auvyra's own song log, for this week, this month or all time. Turning off Likes and top tracks removes the whole page.
Recently played
/recently-played lists what your station played, day by day. Listeners can search it by song or artist, and jump to a date. See Recently Played.
Shoutouts
A short form on your homepage, Listen page and request page. Shoutouts wait for approval under Shoutouts in the dashboard. Approved ones appear at /shoutouts, and in the Shoutout wall section if you add it.
Comments
Listeners can comment on news posts and articles. Comments wait for approval like shoutouts do. See Community.
Polls, competitions and events
/polls, /competitions and /events list what you have open. They join your menu by themselves once there is something to show. See Community.
Podcasts
/podcasts lists the podcasts you publish in AzuraCast, and each one has a page with a player for every episode. AzuraCast hosts the audio and your site shows it.
Search
/search looks through shows, presenters, events, pages, songs you have played, and the headlines of your news and articles. News and Articles have their own search box, and turning off Site search removes them all.
Newsletter
A sign-up form in your footer, which you can also place on a page. Once email is set up, people confirm their address, and you can write to them from the dashboard.
Listener accounts
Listeners can sign up to keep their favorite shows, presenters and tracks in one place, and get an email before a show they saved. See Listener Accounts.
Live chat
A chat room on the Listen page, which presenters answer and moderate from the Studio. It starts off. See Live Chat.
Find this song, and share
Links that search Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube for the track on air, and a button to share it. Recently played and the charts have the same links. These are searches, so results depend on each service.
Sleep timer and stream quality
The Listen page can stop playback after a set time. If your station has more than one stream, listeners can choose between them.
Embeddable player
/embed is a small player other websites can place in an iframe. Copy the code from the Site Builder.
Feeds and apps
/feed.xmlis an RSS feed of your news and articles/schedule.icsis your next four weeks as a calendar file, and each show and event has its own- Listeners can add your site to a phone's home screen, under your station's name
