API Keys

When you need one and how it is protected.

Now-playing data, listener counts and the station list are public in AzuraCast, so Auvyra can show them without a key. A key is needed for detailed song history.

Create a key

In AzuraCast, open your account menu and choose My API Keys. A key has the same permissions as the user who created it, so consider a dedicated AzuraCast user with only the access Auvyra needs.

How Auvyra protects your key

  • It is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before being stored, using your ENCRYPTION_KEY
  • It is used only on the server and is never sent to the browser
  • The form never displays it again: leave the field blank to keep the saved key
  • Changing the server's host requires entering the key again, so a saved key cannot be sent to a different server
