Community
The Studio screen, shoutouts, comments, polls, competitions, events and subscribers.
These screens run everything your listeners take part in. Each feature can be turned off in the Site Builder, under Features.
Studio
Studio is one screen to keep open while you are on air. It shows the track playing, listeners, what is next, the scheduled show, AzuraCast's queue, song requests and the latest shoutouts, and it updates every 15 seconds. You can approve or hide shoutouts from here.
The queue and requests need an AzuraCast API key. Presenters can see them, but only administrators and above can change them, under AutoDJ and Song Requests.
Shoutouts and comments
Everything listeners send in waits under Shoutouts until someone approves it. Hide anything you do not want to publish, or delete it.
Two settings in System Settings change this:
- Publish without waiting for approval puts messages straight on your website
- Blocked words hides any message containing one of them, even with the option above on
Blocked words match whole words, so blocking ass does not catch class.
Polls
Create a poll with up to ten options. It stays a draft until you select Open. Listeners get one vote per browser, using a random cookie, so someone who clears their cookies can vote again. Treat the result as a bit of fun and not as an exact count.
Your newest open poll appears on your homepage, and /polls lists the rest. You can set a closing date, or close a poll by hand. Reword an option rather than replacing it, because votes stay with the option.
Competitions
A competition has a title, a prize, details, rules and an optional question for entrants. Open it, and listeners enter on your website with their name and email address. Each address can enter once.
Draw a winner picks at random from everyone who entered. You can draw again for a runner-up, and nobody can win twice. Once a competition closes, its page shows the winners' names.
Events
Add gigs, roadshows and meet-ups with a date, location, image and ticket link. A published event gets its own page with a countdown and an Add to calendar button. It leaves your homepage and the upcoming list once it has finished.
Subscribers
Turn on Newsletter sign-up under Features, and listeners can leave their email address in your footer. Subscribers lists them with the date they agreed, and Export CSV downloads the list of confirmed subscribers.
To write to them, set up email and newsletters. New sign-ups then confirm their address before they count.
